Center for Integrative Research in Computing and Learning Sciences (CIRCLS)

The Center for Integrative Research in Computing and Learning Sciences (CIRCLS) was a community-based hub for NSF-funded researchers who explore and investigate emerging technologies for teaching and learning. The community included awardees in the Research in Emerging Technologies for Teaching and Learning (RETTL) program as well as thematically related awards funded elsewhere within NSF. The lab's involvement in CIRCLS was twofold. First we organized working groups that brought researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders together to discuss important ideas in AI and emerging educational technologies (for further information, see AI CIRCLS). Second, we mapped the community by exploring the social networks and interdisciplinary collaborations among the NSF Cyberlearning/RETTL Principal Investigators.

This NSF funded project was a collaboration with Digital Promise, Education Development Center, and SRI International. Within the lab, Leah M. Friedman, Dr. Cassandra Kelley, Dr. Aditi Mallavarapu, and Zak Risha worked on CIRCLS.
